Salutations to the Goddess, to the great Goddess, to the consort of Shiva, always salutations. Salutations to the Primordial Nature, to the auspicious one, we bow to you constantly.

Mother of three worlds, three-eyed one, adorned with crescent moon, grant me eternal prosperity. O Shailputri, salutations to you.

शूलं कमलहस्ते च वृषारूढे च या स्थिता ।

सूर्यमण्डलमध्यस्थां परमामृतवर्षिणीम् ।
चिन्मयीं प्रकृतिं साक्षात् कूष्माण्डां प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥२॥

She who resides in the solar sphere, showering supreme nectar, embodiment of consciousness, the very Primordial Nature - I bow to that Kushmanda.

कलशं चापं बाणं च चक्रं शूलं गदां तथा ।
कमण्डलुं वराभीतिं दधतीं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥३॥

She who holds the pot, bow, arrow, discus, trident, mace, water pot, and boon-granting and fear-dispelling gestures - I bow to her.

She is the supreme creator who brought the universe into existence with her divine smile ("Ku" = little, "Ushma" = warmth/energy, "Anda" = cosmic egg). She resides in the core of the Sun (Surya) and provides direction and energy to the Sun God. She has eight arms holding weapons, rosary, lotus, disc, conch, bow, arrow, and a pot of nectar. Creation Story: When the universe was dark and void, Maa Kushmanda smiled and created the cosmos from her divine energy. She is the source of all creation and resides in the core of the Sun, giving light and direction to Surya Dev himself.

Solar Energy: She is the provider of direction, energy and heat to the Sun. Worshipping her removes darkness (ignorance) and brings light (knowledge), vitality and positive aura.
