Story & Spiritual Significance
The Penance of Parvati: In her previous birth as Sati, she immolated herself due to her father Daksha's insult to Lord Shiva. In her next birth as Parvati, she performed severe penance (tapasya) to win Shiva as her husband. During this period, she was known as Brahmacharini, the one who practices devout austerity. She survived on leaves, berries, and later gave up food altogether, enduring harsh climates for thousands of years.
Symbolism of Austerity: The japa mala represents continuous devotion and remembrance of the divine. The kamandalu symbolizes purity and the renunciation of worldly comforts. Together, they teach us that perseverance and dedication are essential for spiritual growth.
Swadhisthana Chakra: She governs the sacral chakra (Swadhisthana), the center of creativity, emotions, and vitality. Her worship awakens this energy, bringing emotional balance, creativity, and strength.
Ruling Planet: Mars (Mangal). Worshipping her mitigates Mangal dosha (afflictions from Mars), bestows courage, strength, and the power to overcome obstacles. It also improves relationships and brings harmony in married life.
